marty and i did a 24 mile X/C from no-po to no-plains! it was really fun, and unique! we launched in about 39 degree weather, foggy and moist, the motors barely made enough thrust to launch. full throttle and only 100 fpm climb. as we passes 2000 feet (finally!) the temp rose to seemingly 70 degrees! i was considering removing my gloves as i was uncomfortably warm. so to take my mind of the sweating i decided to do a fat spiral and as i did my motor quit. then it would not start. beautiful portland in the misty background
i knew i was close to the landing area but it was obscured by a thick fog. i couldnt mess around too much while loosing altitude rapidly so i found a hole in the fog a a farmes field was presented to me. it was a suitable landing area so i took it.
marty followed me and landed there also, what a great wingman! oh this disapproving look on his face was'nt disapproval, it was just the funny face mask i think.
